Established through collective endeavours of reputed academicians and professionals in 2000 AD, KMC network comprises five academic institutions-Kathmandu Model Higher Secondary School (2000 AD), Kathmandu Model College (2004 AD), KMC School (2007 AD), Himalaya College of Engineering (2007 AD) and New Summit College (2011 AD). KMC Educational Network which also includes Kathmandu Model Research Foundation (KMRF) designed to encourage value- based research has been able to occupy a prominent place among academic institutions in the country.
Initiated with only 63 students, KMC today has more than 4500 students and 450 faculty members under this network and there is great scope for its further expansion in different faculties. Needless to point out, KMC has played a vital role in national development, particularly in the education sector. Recipient of HSEB Excellent Award 2008 and 2009 for its excellent performance among the 2500 Higher Secondary Schools in the country, it has been annually producing well- trained human resources to be utilized at home and abroad. Most of the students have already established themselves in the banking sector, industries and other diverse professional fields. KMC products have been absorbed in civil service, diplomatic service and in different international organizations. KMC network has focused on both theoretical and practical education from Nursery to Master's Degree (MA English and MBS) with excellent results. It is a matter of pride that KMC students, in large numbers, have been and are selected every year for MBBS scholarship, BDS scholarship (from IOM and MOE), BE scholarship and have also been selected for CA courses. Apart from this, the intake of KMC students in different international universities is highly encouraging. Moreover, our students have been awarded prestigious scholarships from different international universities and have been able to prove their academic excellence by establishing themselves internationally as top ranking students. KMC takes pride in receiving gold medals in BBA and MA English from Tribhuvan University. This amply justifies the motto of the educational network ‘Academic Excellence through Quality Education’.
KMC Network will not confine itself to ongoing programs or activities and is planning to embark upon innovative areas and disciplines such as health education, travel and tourism and vocational training and education. With a view to giving an international dimension to KMC network, it aims to enter into agreement with reputed foreign universities. For example, a MOU has recently been signed with Georgia Southwestern State university in the US, under which the two institutions will work out and implement exchange programs of teachers and students. Affiliation with foreign universities of international repute will provide an opportunity to KMC network to run academic programs of such universities and admit foreign students to different faculties under the network.
